Tickets are now on sale for the Malifaux 7 Collection!

Wyrd Games, parent company of Malifaux, donated all models for this unique raffle. Capt. Wes Cogdal, owner and lead artist of Stiff Neck Studio, worked with his studio of artists to create seven Malifaux crews for seven lucky winners in this year’s charity raffles.

As with the other raffles, winnings will be shipped worldwide (though you can take them with you from the NOVA if you attend). Drawings will be performed during the NOVA final award ceremony ON September 6. . Also as with the other raffles, KR MultiCase has generously donated a foam-included carrying case for each crew!

Tickets are now on sale for the Batalion Piechoty Polish Army.

Alongside the Blitzkrieg Supplement, the Polish Batalion Piechoty stands as a remarkably adaptable army, worthy of attention. First of note is the core; each company can comprise up to four platoons, meaning that there could be as many as 49 infantry teams in one element. At the same time, while all units are deployed, the platoons can act independently of each another.

Tickets are now on sale for the Alaitoc Eldar Army.

In addition to the Alaitoc Eldar and Sons Of Orar armies, you’ll also be able to buy tickets for a chance to win a wonderful Flanes Of War Polish army, and an absolutely massive collection of Malifaux models (all painted by Stiff Neck Studios).

Tickets are now on sale for the Sons of Orar Army.

And now, on to just one of the Tactical squads from the Sons Of Orar army, painted by Neil Szabo. We usually give our artists a bit of freedom to approach their tasks the way they see fit. This year, Neil took his task to the next level by magnetizing the gap out of this squad. Loads of options for both the sergeant and the special weapons trooper mean that the winner (could it be you?) will be able to switch up their lists depending on opponent without much effort at all.

AWESOME!!

The 2015 NOCF Alaitoc Eldar artists, under the direction of Brian Ballard, have completed their mission! The army came together in Baltimore, Maryland, where Dave Taylor photographed each and put together this first peak for you.

Special Thanks to Mike Brandt and the NOVA Open for hosting the following fundraiser. Please sign up to participate – first come/first served. Games of choice will be 40K (limited to 32 players) and Malifaux (limited to 16 players). Donations will support the NOCF and Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Mike writes, “Back in 2009, the NOVA Open got its start with a 40k tournament in a park, hosting 32 players across 4 rounds. Two years ago, we hosted another one of these in a backyard in Vienna, hosting 32 players in a more laid back 3-round setting. We’ll be bringing this BBQ fundraiser back again this year, on July 18, and adding Malifaux.  So, clear your calendars! The event will be hosted in McLean, VA.

Grilled dogs and burgers/chips/tasty beverages sold to further support event. Cover will be planned and provided in case of rain. For an idea of what to expect, check out coverage of the last one by Bob Roda, who drove down from CT to attend: Blood, Skulls and Fire!

About Powered Play Gaming:

Our Team

We’re Chris & Chris. It’s cute, we know…

Chris Wessling, CEO, came up with the idea for the kits about a year ago. His then 4 year old son wandered into the garage one day, and found a box of Warhammer 40K miniatures that had been collecting dust. Invigorated by the ability to share an old passion with his son, Chris bought him a new army and wondered, “Wouldn’t it be cool to put lights on this tank?” So, he researched it, looked at the tutorials and was frustrated by the complexity of what’s out there. Thus, using his US Navy nuclear reactor operator training, and NASA-spec soldering skills, he began creating the product.

A year later, he meets Chris Michaels, COO (Chris 2) – a marketing and PR guy who’s been helping launch startups, representing major tech firms and being a spokesperson for a major county fair. Chris 2 was intrigued, since he grew up building models with his dad and uncle, and remembered trying to put lights into model terrain sets and scale stealth fighters. He understood the marketing and business, and shared the passion for giving people the tools to be even more creative with their hobbies. It was a killer match and this past January, we formed PoweredPlay Gaming.

Today we’re often rubbing elbows in the Bay Area with local gamers, hobbyists, store owners and experts as we test our products, show off new prototypes and drool over the applications that other people come up with. We’re sponsoring local role-playing games, national tournaments like Adepticon and a range of other events, and we may be hosting one soon at a store near you.

Thanks to TheWarStore.Com for this week’s raffle prize.  Winner will be drawn and posted on August 9, 2014.

TheWarStore Philosophy

Written – first day of business, November 1st 1999

I have been in retailing all my life (Indeed the only reason I was taught math at all was so I could work a cash register), and learned at a very young age the key to retail success is always putting the customer first. If you are a TheWarStore customer I will do my best to make you happy. And that does not mean throwing around simple slogans, platitudes, or buzz words. In concrete terms my “Customer First” policies define what a TheWarStore shopping experience should be like:

– Low prices
– Fast Shipping
– Easy phone access and good email communication
– Fast resolution of order problems at no cost to you!
-Total confidentiality and security for credit card transactions and your personal information
– A site interested in your feedback and suggestions

Does this mean we never make a mistake? Not at all. But it does mean that everything around here happens under my watchful eye and I take full responsibility for it. We work hard every day to make your shopping experience worry and hassle free. And if we make a mistake we will fix it right away, and without cost to you. You have my word on that.
Thanks for shopping here!

About KR Multicase:

Who are KR?

KR Multicase is a company dedicated to miniature figures and innovative storage solutions. We carry out all design and testing in-house for our cases trays and accessories, and manufacture and sell only our own products. We have 2 factories, one in the UK and one in the USA which enables us to serve our worldwide customers at minimum cost. KR provides the most versatile, cost effective and highest capacity miniature wargaming transport and storage system on the market, and with our postage inclusive prices mean that the price you see on the website is you pay to get it to your door – no hidden extras in the checkout!

The KR Products

The KR range of trays, cases and wargaming accessories provide safe and durable storage and transport for all wargaming miniatures, from the small skirmish games needing a case for maybe 5 or 10 figures up to armies needing cases for hundreds of figures, vehicles or cavalry. The standard size KR multicase can carry 200 28mm figures and is easily the highest capacity case per £, $ or € spent on a wargaming case.

More than just a case

The KR system for storage and transportation is the only interchangeable case system for miniature wargaming. The concept of the economical card cases which are fully interchangeable with each other in a transport bag, backpack or wheeled case is unique and provides gamers with just the solution they need. You can save huge amounts of money by using this system as you only need 1 transport bag and can purchase the economical and safe card cases to interchange as needed.

Our background

Some time ago when my son started collecting wargaming miniatures we found that the hobby can become very expensive indeed! His main aim was, as with most gamers and collectors to save his pocket money and amass the largest most powerful army possible. One main obstacle stood in his way – carry cases and their cost. As with many of his gaming pals he carried his figures around in shoe boxes and plastic bags with kitchen roll and bits of bubble wrap to protect his models (we have all seen this so often), well aware that carry cases were expensive. Hence the need for a durable, yet economic solution.

After many trials and much testing the KR Multicase was born. The outer case is made from the best material, heavy duty solid card (not as some people suspect, cheap corrugated card) and as such is incredibly durable. The original KR Multicase has now grown into its own well supported range of trays and transport bags and wheeled cases. You can now choose from the original card cases, the Kaiser transport bags to carry them in, the handy backpack, or the aluminium cases in 8 sizes and 2 colours, along with the Aquilla range for small skirmish games.

The aluminium KR Multicase range retains all the features of the original card case, especially the stackability and the snap closing lid. In addition these cases are lockable and have a shoulder strap for easier carrying. All the aluminium cases come with a clear self-adhesive pocket for labelling your army. Our tray range covers miniature wargaming in all scales from 6mm-28mm, as well as railways too. The 7 formats of core trays covers all gaming systems, and the custom cut trays are manufactured for specific models.

Whether you are a new gamer wanting to fund an ever increasing army and still carry and store your current one safely, or the more mature one whose better half wants those window sills and dining tables back, the KR Multicase is the perfect solution. Try one today!

The standard size case can carry 200 28mm figures and is easily the most figures you can carry per £, $ or € spent on any wargaming case. Try a cost comparison for safe storage and transport of approximately 500 28 mm figures, and a dozen tanks. Safely protected for around £100? Easily achieved in 4 standard KR Multicases, or in one of the larger cases like the quad aluminium, the KaiserFour or the 800 case.

The ever increasing range of custom cut trays we make for a wide range of figures and models, from GW, Dropzone Commander, Warmachine and Hordes, Bloodbowl, Wings of Glory and Subbuteo to name but a few, have their own pages and pdf TrayGuides for specific armies. Check them out to create the prefect case for your army. We have also made custom interiors for specific requirements (vehicles, monsters and so on), when our customers have asked – please contact us if you have a special requirements.

The NOVA Open Charitable Foundation, with the help of its amazing sponsors, gives away another weekly prize today ~ our second to an Aussie this year. Did you know one of the Macragge Consortium artists will be shipping his Ultramarines from New Zealand? Is there a connection? In 2013, we shipped the WM/H Khador army to Tasmania – the last big chunk o’ land between Down Under and Antarctica!

Congratulations to Benjamin Ryan from Camden, New South Wales (somewhere a bit south of Syndney) on winning $25 to shop at Secret Weapon Miniatures.  Think about buying the new NOCF Macragge OMEGA bases!

This Ultramarine army (Blood & Honor: The Defense of Macragge) update is from artist Marc Raley. Marc has been working on a pair of Thunderfire Cannons for the NOCF Macragge project  – specifically, the Ultramarine army, “Blood & Honor: Defense of Macragge.”  He shares, “The guns are almost complete. Techmarines are base-coated. Here is a quick progress shot from the workbench. More photos to come soon!” Follow these cannons to completion at Marc Raley Miniatures.

This Ultramarine army (Blood & Honor: The Defense of Macragge) update is from artist John Stiening.  This is a follow up on the Repainting of a Dave Taylor Masterpiece: Dave had the idea to update this quintessential piece from his Ultramarines force, blending both of our current styles. In this combined effort, John’s task was color modulation, grime streaking, and dust. The goal is to update the model to the blue recipe used in the NOVACF force, and then hand the model off to Dave to work his detail magic.

 About SWM:

The Story So Far…

Secret Weapon Miniatures was launched in September of 2009 with four core product concepts:

More Realism
Truer Scale
Uncompromising Quality
Fair Pricing

Even with more than 400 individual products those core values remain at the heart of what we do.

In 2010 we added the Secret Weapon Weathering Pigments to the catalog to bring high quality, pure pigments to wargamers and scale model hobbyists at reasonable prices with in-store support for retailers. That line now includes 23 individually selected, quality tested art and cosmetic grade pigments free from additives or fillers that will interfere with weathering techniques.

In 2011, with the help of Les Bursley, the Secret Weapon Washes joined the catalog to give hobbyists an alternative to the cheap, thinned inks being sold as washes by providing true acrylic washes with a liquid pigment base that can be used to wash, glaze or paint a model. Today there are 30 colors available with in-store rack support for retailers.

In 2012 we expanded to offer the largest selection of basing themes on the market, and introduced unique themed hollow designs like our “Blasted Wetlands” line. This selection continues to grow, and takes advantage of advances in 3D printing and milling technology to give us a level of unmatched precise detail.

In 2013 we’re refocusing on our “From The Ground Up ™” vision and expanding our line of weathering products, bases, terrain, and accessories — with an emphasis on model finishing, and comprehensive gaming and display environments. We also successfully funded the first four themes of our Tablescapes Tiles ™ modular gaming boards on Kickstarter, complete with matching bases and terrain, to give you a fully themed army, literally from the ground up.

Florian Stitz is a well-known concept artist in the miniature artist field. He lives in Dortmund, Germany with his family. He has been a supporter of the NOVA Open since 2012. In 2013, ten of his prints raised nearly $1,000 for charity; this year, he has contributed 25 framed and signed prints to the Silent Auction.

The Silent Auction will take place at the NOVA Open from August 28-31, 2014.  Hope to see you there!

This Tyranid army (Scythes of Behemoth) updates are from artist Sean Fulton. He gets us up close and personal with a Venomthrope tentacle!  Sean adds, “Been a busy week with FPM [Figure Painter Magazine], but I managed to get an article out on the venomthrope for this issue’s release.  I have been able to put together the bulk of the scheme for the limbs which will be part of another article promoting NOCF via the venomthrope paint job. I still need to do the final layer or two  of highlighting (particularly on the arm/hand itself), but I am quite close to finishing up this limb. As always, I am open to suggestions/critiques!
