Charity Army donated by an anonymous miniature artist, who shared:
“The Emperor’s Hammer [hence Mjolinar] is the highlight of my eleven year painting career. I wanted to create a grand army of the Emperor’s finest marching into battle with pristine light grey armour and flying banners. The army has many conversions that show the decorated and human side of the Space Marines. It was played as both vanilla and Dark Angels.”
Dave Taylor, who received the army, notes:
“As I was unpacking the Mjolinar Space Marine Army, and preparing it for photography, I noticed that while all the Marines were painted with an equal level of care and attention, they are not all from the same “period” of models. Many of the Marines are from more recent plastic releases, but scattered in amongst the units are older, metal models, some of which date back to the early ’90s. The consistent application of the paint scheme across the entire army gives it an incredibly coherent feel at all levels, while the many iterations of the Space Marine miniatures involved also provides a great variety at the squad level.”
Army arrives in a fully customized transport case donated by KR MULTICASE; includes custom acrylic templates from TNT LASER WORKS.

Combining vast mental disciplines with a mastery of hand-to-hand combat, harbingers of fire, ice, and air, the Dragyri are emerging from their underground caverns. The Dragyri are massive aliens whose culture is based on etiquette, personal honor and dominance through single combat. Divided into castes based on the very elements they worship, the Dragyri use their mental disciplines to harness the forces of nature, summoning forth lightning strikes, hail storms, tornadoes, and pillars of fire to annihilate their enemies. Deeming man to be “Those-Without-Honor”, the Dragyri will not rest until they purge Samaria of all those they view as unworthy.
After losing the Caste War with the Fire Caste ages ago, the last vestiges of the Water Caste fled into the human lands and reinvented themselves into the fiercely savage Ice Caste. Trading their formerly fluid martial combat techniques for the hard edge melee skills taught by the new Arbiter of Fate, Luck’kit’kaii, the Ice Caste is as cold and unforgiving as the element is has chosen to emulate. Eventually the caste will be ready to stand defiantly once more against the tyranny of the Fire Caste, and he is willing to spend the lives of countless slaves to get there.
Blades of crystal soaked with the freezing energy of their Foci slash through enemies with ease, the Death’s Devices and the Blizzard forces of the true born seeking glorious foes against which to test their skills…

Rising from the ashes to become a mighty religious theocracy, the bloody Crusades of their Saints touching all corners of the globe, The Forsaken are determined to bring religion to Samaria or die trying. The Forsaken are religious fanatics, worshipping those who call themselves Saints and killing those unfortunate souls deemed unworthy of God’s grace. After purging their own society, the Forsaken soon set their sights on the rest of the inhabitants of this godless world. Now the earth itself trembles as the mighty armies of their Saints surge forth to bring bloody justice to the heathen. Unbelievers beware!
ST. ISAAC’S FORCE
Saint Isaac never considered himself a particularly religious man. His background has far more to do with technology than piety. Yet, when he rose to head the Forsaken military’s research and design division, the military pressed for his elevation to Sainthood on purely logical grounds. Only a Saint (with the Forsaken God’s implied blessing) could conduct the kind of research that Saint Isaac pursued.
The results have been formidable. Isaac’s forces consist of robots, controlled by human minds rather than treacherous artificial intelligences. Many of the machines are of his own design, but the most powerful juggernauts come from technology salvaged from the wasteland. Samaria’s barren landscape hold treasure troves of pre-Fall tech, and Isaac considers it his mission to bring all of it home to New Ashkelon.

“Forever Young”
(Pictured in the artist’s display case)
Roman describes his work on this model from his personal collection, “This is my interpretation of Fer Miniatures Lucy, the Vampire bride bust from the Gothic Horror series. I really enjoyed the size of the bust. 1/12 is so enjoyable to paint. I did not want her to be a young bride. I rather see her as on old vampire lady, living through all the ages, sleeping for centuries, just to awake and see how the world changes. A little drink of fresh blood here and there, but all in all a little melancholic vampire lady who is not sure if staying forever young is really the perfect solution. What if she gets bored by this neverending story?”

Flames of War: Batalion Piechoty (Polish Infantry)
Alongside the Blitzkrieg Supplement, the Polish Batalion Piechoty stands as a remarkably adaptable army, worthy of attention. First of note is the core; each company can comprise up to four platoons, meaning that there could be as many as 49 infantry teams in one element. At the same time, while all units are deployed, the platoons can act independently of each another.
Supporting the infantry, a battery of options (pun intended) can be brought to bear against an opposing force. Anti-tank guns, cavalry, light tanks, and scouts are all available to the Batalion Piechoty. A Batalion Piechoty player can also take advantage of four artillery batteries, in addition to an armored train. Given that artillery can double as an anti-tank measure, and that cavalry and tanks add to the army’s mobility, the Batalion Piechoty has options other than being a meat-grinder force.
The mix provided can act as a spectacular core set, while also being noteworthy for the wiggle room present. The mix of artillery, infantry, and more, weighs in at 1620 points, meaning that some units will need to be subtracted before reaching the current standard of 1500 points.

MALIFAUX 7!
The Nova Open Charity Foundation is pleased to add another game to its growing list of charity raffle items in the form of the Wild West/Victorian Horror game, Malifaux. This 7-Crew Collection is brought to the community by Stiff Neck Studio, once again leading the support for tabletop wargamers in support of charitable causes! The proceeds of this raffle will support Fisher House Foundation.
Wyrd Games, parent company of Malifaux, donated all models for this unique raffle. Capt. Wes Cogdal, owner and lead artist of Stiff Neck Studio, worked with his studio of artists to create seven Malifaux crews for seven lucky winners in this year’s charity raffles.
As with the other raffles, winnings will be shipped worldwide (though you can take them with you from the NOVA if you attend). Drawings will be performed during the NOVA final award ceremony ON September 6. . Also as with the other raffles, KR MultiCase has generously donated a foam-included carrying case for each crew!
Here’s how it will work: In the order in which they are drawn, winners will receive one of the following 7 different Malifaux Crews (which may include a few additional fun items):
Crew #1: The Bayou Boss (Som’er Teeth Jones Crew) + Merris LaCroixCrew #2 – The Thunder (Misaki Crew) + 2 Katanaka Snipers Crew #3 – The Miners and Steamfitters Union (Ramos Crew)Crew #4 – Hide and Seek (Dreamer Crew)
Crew #5 – Salvage and Logistics (Leviticus Crew) + Rogue Necromancy Crew #6 – Herald of Obliteration (Tara Crew) Crew #7 – The Guild’s Justice (Lady Justice Crew)
Malifaux: The History
In 1787, a coalition of the world’s greatest magicians gathered together and tore a hole in the very fabric of reality. This tear, this Breach, was ninety feet in length and sixty feet high. On the other side was a large city, eerily abandoned seemingly without struggle. Within the city was a new, strange substance called Soulstone: white stones that could amplify magic, replenished if brought close to a dying person. Man’s expansion into this city, named Malifaux, was slowed, but not halted by creatures referred to as the Neverborn.
One winter, a terrible blizzard came and began to weaken the Breach. Magicians, desperate to save what they perceived as the salvation of magic, did what they could but it was inevitable: the Breach would soon vanish. What’s more, attempts to cross through the Breach were rebuffed, as if an invisible force was barring entry. All the while, the sounds of a horrible battle were heard from Malifaux’s side of the Breach, although nothing could be seen through the choking smoke. Before the Breach slammed shut, a mangled body flew through, and on it was crudely carved the word: “ours.”
Exactly one century later, down to the exact minute, the Breach opened once again. While the signs of battle seemed recent, there were no bodies to be found. Given the extreme loss of magical talent when last the Breach closed, colonization was carried out in a different manner this time through. Criminals Earthside were given an option: serve a sentence on Malifaux and possibly earn freedom through hard labor, or stay Earthside and serve their standard sentence there.
We stand four years past the re-opening of the Breach. The Neverborn threat has risen again, seeking to devour an unsuspecting humanity. The Resurrectionists have resurfaced, performing their grotesque arts in Malifaux where they could not on Earth. Gremlins, growing increasingly intelligent and vicious, are closing in on the border territories. And throughout all of this, everyone in Malifaux can feel the city itself waiting—seemingly, as bad as things are, they’re about to get a whole lot worse.
“The Emperor’s will guides us, the Primarch’s blood strengthens us, the Founder’s example drives us. No foe can stand before us and prevail.”
— Alavaan, Chapter Master of the Sons of Orar
The basic history of the Sons of Orar was lost to Imperial records, but it is known that they revere Orar, the legendary Ultramarines Captain who ascended to mythic status in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy. The Sons of Orar claim the titular Orar as their spiritual patriarch, and are listed in the Lexicon as a successor chapter to the Ultramarines, though this history is lost to the sands of time.
Following the example of their sire chapter, the Sons of Orar have a wide range of battle strategies at their disposal. They rely on the Codex Astartes for their general combat makeup, and stand as some of the greatest generalists of the Imperium. The Imperial Fists might be better at siege warfare, the Aurora chapter might be better with heavy armor, but the Sons of Orar can match their efforts with competence.
This concept of being a “jack-of-all trades” chapter translates well into their army. For mobility, Chapter Master Alavaan rides with his bike squad. For a heavier assault, a series of drop pods, an Imperial Knight, and a Vindicator are at the Sons’ disposal. If all else fails, the will of the Tactical Marines should suffice against any foe.
“We move like ghosts across a galaxy that was once ours. Silently we walk upon the ruins of cities and across the bones of worlds, our every kill a reminder to our enemies that though our light grows dim, the Eldar will have their vengeance.” — Illic Nightspear
The Eldar of Craftworld Alaitoc are known for being among the most influential Eldar, sending out agents to act as eyes and ears across the galaxy. This makes the Alaitoc among the most knowledgeable forces in the 41st millennium, although they aren’t eager to share their information with anyone, shunning contact with those races they deem “inferior.”
Even for Eldar society, the Alaitoc are highly structured. While this is the presented tradition, the younger generations of Eldar are growing increasingly dissatisfied. To this end, Craftworld Alaitoc has produced a number of world-roaming Rangers, called Starstriders. While outcast from the Eldar as a whole, they continue to take up arms in the name of Craftworld Alaitoc.
Facing the Alaitoc upon their Craftworld is a daunting task, to say the least. While the Alaitoc regularly prefer misdirection and guile to brute force, their ability to inflict damage cannot be underestimated. Fielding psychic heavy-hitters, such as their array of Farseers, Spiritseers, and Warlords, they strike fear into the hearts of all invaders. If the might of the mind is insufficient, then the Alaitoc have heavier weapons in the form of Wave Serpent and Falcon Grav Tanks, as well as their traditional Wraithguard and Wraightknights. Even their standard Fire Drgaons and Dire Avengers would be fighting with increased desperation—this isn’t just territory they’re fighting for…it’s the closest thing they have to a homeworld.

Steve joins the NOVA Open Charitable foundation artist consortium in 2014, bringing with him our first Flames of War army, and one of the largest ever offered! He became involved via Eric Fontaine’s grass roots charity army campaign. The models are all from Battlefront Miniatures’ Flames of War 15mm line of figures. All of the tanks have magnetized turrets. The Panzer IV objective piece turret is not glued in, so it can be positioned if desired. These are weathered as if they have all seen some battle and are definitely NOT factory fresh!

Stiff Neck Studio, under the leadership of Capt. Wesley Cogdal, is once again donating an exceptional army for the NOCF charity raffles. This year, they are expanding our army range to include the first NOCF Fantasy army, lovingly entitled “Man Eaters of the Great Maw!” The NOCF proudly donated funds from last year’s Stiff Neck Studio army to The Fisher House Foundation, and we hope the Compassionate Force will come together in 2014 to double those funds for this charity.

A Charity Army of the Penny Arcade Collaboration Effort
Built by a combined force of hobbyists associated with the Penny Arcade forum, the Deathwatch Army has been donated to the NOCF with the request that it be raffled as a fundraiser for Child’s Play Charity. Forty pages of forum posts followed this army from musings on a “general 40K” thread to each model being painted by a different person over the course of a year, culminating in the most recent post which announced, “The army is in the care of the Nova Open Charitable Foundation. . . .” The handler, who wishes to remain anonymous, recognized that a lot of people had given of themselves to create this Deathwatch Army, and it had a lot to give back to the community. A staff member of the NOVA Open Tabletop Wargaming Convention, Martin Bagley, has agreed to take on the task of repairing and restoring this army to its original grandeur over the next few weeks.

This adheres to one of the “Theme Lists” that Privateer does. Because of this, the Shocktroopers are 1 pt cheaper, and both Man-O-War units get +2 inches of speed on the first turn. In addition, the three warjacks Advanced Deploy (they deploy after the bulk of the opponent’s forces), and the solos (War Dog, Manhunters and Yuri) re-deploy, so they get to change position just before the game starts. In short, the army bypasses most of the deployment stage, letting you dictate the matchups. The faction’s greatest weakness is it’s speed, but this is heavily mitigated by the extra 6″ the Warjacks get, and the extra 2″ the Man-o-War get on the first turn. It’s a very brutal list, and lots of fun to play because it’s fast, high armored, and deadly in melee, but has zero guns!
The army also comes with Sorscha1, and the two Juggernauts have their weapons magnetized, and you can swap one of them over to a Destroyer, giving you the standard Starter Box
